DETAILS AND REGULATIONS OF THE HORSEPOWERRUN 2012

 

The 31th INTERNATIONAL HORSEPOWERRUN will be held on Sunday April 22th 2012

Attention:    The use of environmental carpets is obliged during the whole event of the Horsepowerrun. You are welcom to bring your own e-carpet or you can buy (€ 5,00)one from the Stichting Horsepowerrun. If you want to buy one from us, please say so on your entryform. The minimal size of the carpet has to be 80 x 50 cm.

In this entryform/information you will find the the headlines of the Regulations of the event. About 3 weeks before the event you will receive the latest instructions and all the informations in behalve of the progress of the Run. Due to lack of parkingspace at the restpoints, we will have a maximum count of 150 entrants. So please enter a.s.a.p. The Run is open for: motorcycles, tricycles, sidecars and forecars, manufactured before Jan. 1st 1915.

You have to give a proof of evidence that your machine is built before 1-1-1915 with the Pioneer-certificate registrationnumber or, if not registered, a photocopy of a brochure, etc. when this machine takes part for the first time.

Please be correct by mentioning the manufacturing year, as it will help to improve the standard of our event and hobby. For machines, built before 1.1.1921, there is added a "B"-class above the mentioned categories. This class is added as its in fact a 'forgotten" category machines which are based on, or are nearly the same as prè 1915 machines. The Run is open for riders out of the whole world, except disqualified riders and/or machines. The Horsepowerrun is an one-day event with a lenght of about 80 km. and is not a race but a demonstration of reliability of machines and their riders.

Wearing a crash-helmet is obliged by law. Please your attention for two important points it the Dutch law:

· Each vehicle which takes part on the traffic on Dutch roads must be recognisable by a registration-numberplate.

· Obtaining an "one-day-insurance" is only possible when its mentioned on the entryform which has been arrived before closingdate. MENTIONING THE REGISTRATIONNUMBER IS NECESSARY. Insured riders have to produce their "Green-card" at sign-on.

The check-in is open on Sunday-morning from 07.30 to 09.00 a.m. in the “ Nienoord” welcomecenter near the carparc at Leek. Leek is in the North of the Netherlands, about 10 miles from the city of Groningen. The first starters will leave from 09.30 a.m. onwards.

More than 30 minutes after the official startingtime will be deemed as non-starter. The route leads along the village EEN where we will have a short coffee-break, to ASSEN. For entrants, in Assen is provided free coffee or soup, (after handing the distributed ticket), and sandwiches are available.
Re-start in order of arrival from 12.15 p.m. onwards.

Along another route riders will continue the Run to NORG where refreshments will provided again. From here its about 15 km. to the finish at "Nienoord" in Leek. Riders have to be back at the finish at least at 03.00 p.m.

Along the route, fuel (BP, 200 mtr. left at the second trafficlights just before Assen, and TOTAL at restpoint Norg) is available. As the finish is at the same spot as the start, its not necessary to follow riders with trailers etc.. A breakdown vehicle is provided by the organisation and collects retired riders and their vehicles. Entries are not transferable and changing of machines is only allowed after permission by the organizstion before you leave for the start.

Changing of machine/rider during the Run in prohibited. Clothing of comic nature is not allowed.
The route is signposted by orangiën coloured arrows. Immediately after this time "end- and awardpresentation" will take place.

There are awards available for:

· For all the finishers the Horsepowerrun medal.

· The classwinners A jury will make the choice.

· Combination oldest riders/machine,

· Rider which lives at the greatest distance to Leek.

· A Perpetual Trophy , offered for the first time by the British riders for the Dutchman which starts with "the technical most interesting newcomer".

· The “ Het Motorrijwiel-cup” for the oldest machine of Dutch manufacture.

· END TO END CUP, offered as a Jubilee present by the SUNBEAM MCC England for a Dutch entrant as age difference award (greatest distance in age between his own age and that of his/her machine) as well

· The "British-Made-Cup", the new Jubilee present for the rider which takes part on the oldest British built motorcycle.

· The "Morley-Ladies-Cup" for the youngest ladies-rider.

Each rider has to undersign the entry-form and "sign-on" before the start, so he/she is known and agreed with the Regulations and own responsibility regarding rider and machine during the Run.
Entrants have to use both provided numbered cards, as well on the front and the rear of machine or their wearjacket. The organisation of the HORSEPOWERRUN has arranged a THIRD PARTY INSURANCE COVER. PLEASE MENTION INTERESTING MACHINEDETAILS ON THE ENTRYFORM.
